Embed Power BI dashboards for every customer, without a Pro license per viewer
EmbedPortal connects to your Power BI workspace with a service principal, generates embed tokens on your Fabric or Power BI Embedded capacity, and serves each report inside a branded portal. Your external viewers sign in to EmbedPortal, not to Microsoft, so you do not buy a Power BI Pro license for each one.

How to embed Power BI
Most teams finish these steps in under an hour.
Register an app in Microsoft Entra ID
Create an app registration, copy the client ID and tenant ID, and generate a client secret.
Allow service principals in Power BI
In the Power BI admin portal, enable service principals to call Fabric APIs and enable embedding content in apps.
Add the app to your workspace
Give the service principal Member access on the workspace that holds the reports you want to share.
Connect Power BI in EmbedPortal
Paste the client ID, tenant ID and secret under Integrations, then click Test to confirm the connection.
Add reports to your portal
Pick a report, choose its folder and the groups that can see it, and turn on row-level security if the dataset uses roles.

Power BI features
Runs on your capacity
Embed tokens are generated against your Fabric F SKU or Power BI Embedded capacity. The data stays in your workspace.
Row-level security per viewer
Pass a username, roles and custom data with each embed token so every customer sees only their rows.
Fit to page or fit to width
Viewers pick the sizing that suits the report. You set the default per dashboard.
Export to PDF and PowerPoint
Let viewers download the current view, or turn exports off for sensitive reports.
Scheduled delivery
Send a report as PDF or PowerPoint on a schedule, filtered by each recipient's security rules.
Full screen and toolbar control
Hide the Power BI chrome for a clean, product-like view, or show it for power users.
Why teams embed Power BI with EmbedPortal
Sharing Power BI with people outside your company usually means guest accounts and a Pro license for each person. That gets expensive fast once you have hundreds of customer or partner users.
With the embed for your customers model, viewers never touch the Power BI service. EmbedPortal handles their sign-in, decides what they can see, and asks Power BI for a short-lived embed token. You pay for capacity once and add viewers without adding licenses.
You also skip the custom code. There is no React app to build, no token service to host, and no admin screens to maintain. Connect the workspace, add reports, invite users.

Common questions
Do external users need a Power BI license to view embedded reports?
No. When reports are embedded with the app owns data model on Fabric or Power BI Embedded capacity, viewers authenticate to your portal, not to Power BI. They do not need a Pro or Premium Per User license.
Which Power BI capacity do I need?
Any Fabric F SKU or Power BI Embedded A SKU supports embedding for external users. Start with a small SKU and scale up as render volume grows.
How does row-level security work with embedded Power BI?
Define roles in your Power BI dataset. EmbedPortal passes the viewer's identity, roles and custom data in the embed token, and Power BI filters the rows before the report renders.
Can I embed Power BI dashboards as well as reports?
Yes. You can embed reports and dashboards from any workspace the service principal can access.
Does my data leave my Power BI workspace?
No. EmbedPortal stores connection settings and portal configuration. Your datasets and reports stay in your Microsoft tenant.
